Overview

Unibright offers Freequity, a distributed ledger agnostic platform for businesses to compliantly tokenize assets.

Challenge

Freequity initially supported Ethereum, for enterprises that required lower costs and better performance Unibright sought alternatives.

Solution

Unibright’s Freequity platform adds additional support for tokens on Hedera, using the Hedera Token Service.

Unibright is an enterprise-focused blockchain company, providing consulting, integrations, and the Freequity platform. The Freequity platform is a set of modules that, together, Unibright aims to deliver a 360° solution for services in all relevant stages of the tokenization process.

Freequity modules consist of tools, services, and solutions to support common needs such as compliance around issuance and maintenance, custodian services, liquidity solutions, and integrations into back-of-house systems. The platform can be deployed as a white-labeled solution in an enterprise or small-business to quickly accelerate their tokenized asset efforts.

Initially, the ledger agnostic platform focused on Ethereum. With an interest in the enterprise space, Freequity kept an eye out for alternative networks to support.

Hedera Token Service

With the release of the Hedera Token Service, Unibright’s Freequity has added support for tokens on Hedera. With Hedera Token Service, tokens on Freequity are able to be deployed at a fraction of the cost with low-latency transactions. Hedera Token Service provided Unibright with an easy to integrate solution, using common programming languages, and out-of-the-box tools to encourage compliance, like an account KYC flag.

Hedera Token Service takes full advantage of the hashgraph consensus algorithm. The blockchain alternative allows for token issuance and uses to be drastically more efficient – with transfers costing less than 1¢ USD and finalized in 3-5 seconds, on average. With this superior performance, token issuers on Freequity will be able to provide more predictable business models without compromising on security.

In addition to the features and functionality of the network service, Unibright was naturally attracted to Hedera’s governance model. The enterprise-focused Unibright was keen to have faith in, and their end-users trust in, a collection of world-leading organizations steward the Hedera network. Alongside the structure of the Hedera Governing Council, there was comfort found in the reduction in risks potentially caused by forks on other networks.
