Hedera provides secure, scalable infrastructure for real-world decentralized applications in finance, AI, and sustainability, governed by global enterprises.

A couple of weeks ago, a number of members of the Hedera hashgraph community came together in LA for the Crypto Invest Summit. Matt Sorum, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer formerly of Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, The Cult, and Kings of Chaos, was on hand to talk on-stage about his latest venture, Artbit. Artbit is a revolutionary distributed-ledger platform, which will leverage Hedera hashgraph, that allows both artists and fans to share and monetize artistic talent from anywhere across the globe.

Our Daniel Francis also got the highlights from him after his talk. Video and full transcript of the interview are below:

Daniel Francis: You said something out there that really touched me personally as well, in terms of art being what makes life beautiful. Tell us a little bit about why Artbit? Why did you get involved from a really personal perspective as as well?

Matt Sorum: I feel for the real talent that doesn’t have the ability to be as savvy on social media, because certain parts of their brains don’t work that way. Creative people create. It’s not all about business. The business aspect is the part that’s daunting. With Artbit, they can monetize that from the get go, and the community can manage them. The community will be able to help them, and at the same time, be incentivized by crypto, and be able to monetize initially what’s going to give them the incentive.

Matt Sorum: Now, with Artbit and Hashgraph, that information will be transparent on a public ledger. We’ll all be able to see what’s happening, and we’ll be able to push for each other. Everyone will be able to monetize an intellectual property that is owned by you, not Facebook, not Instagram, not Snapchat, where all these guys in Silicon Valley are getting rich off your talented content. Your imagination. But when you put up that picture, and you run it through a filter, and you go, “This is going to be great.” Then you say, “Goodbye. I don’t own that anymore.”

Matt Sorum: In Artbit, everyone through the crypto and the information, and Hedera Hashgraph will have a piece of this. When that company builds, everyone will build together. That’s the beauty of it. When I found out about Hashgraph, I thought, “Oh my god. This is the future.” But now, it’s about the build. It’s about finding the people that are brave enough to try the new world, right? That’s what’s exciting.
