## Problem

SaucerSwap required a public ledger that could not only support the array of DeFi services they wanted to offer on their decentralized exchange, but could also rapidly scale while maintaining high performance and low transaction fees for participants.

## Solution

SaucerSwap chose to build their DEX on Hedera due to its ability to support fast and high-volume transactions with much lower fees than alternative networks. Additionally, SaucerSwap leverages Hedera Consensus Service to support its governance structure, providing a transparent and immutable log of platform policies.

Hedera has some obvious advantages to other L1 blockchains, including those around speed, trust, and cost, and allows us to think pretty openly and get creative about what a DEX can be and what kind of functionality we can offer to our users.

## The pioneering DEX on Hedera

SaucerSwap is the first decentralized exchange on Hedera, leveraging its native services to create a trusted marketplace for token swaps and other DeFi activities. Built on an automated market maker (AMM) protocol, SaucerSwap facilitates trading between participants while incentivizing liquidity providers through staking rewards. Beyond token swaps and liquidity pools, it offers yield farming and single-sided staking to further increase liquidity.

The platform’s native token is $SAUCE (ID: 0.0.731861).

## Strengthening the Hedera ecosystem

By providing liquidity markets for Hedera Token Service (HTS) tokens, SaucerSwap enables any Hedera Token Service project without an existing liquid market to easily create a liquidity pool. This mirrors how DeFi ecosystems have grown on other networks and helps drive Hedera’s continued expansion.

## Looking ahead

Moving forward, the SaucerSwap team is looking to add more community pools, gamified features, and social tools to enhance user engagement. As the first DEX on Hedera, SaucerSwap is more than a trading platform—it’s a key driver of DeFi growth in the Hedera ecosystem, with a future focused on both innovation and ecosystem support.
