Verifiable Credentials (VC) and Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) are two different but related identity standards progressing in the W3C – both of which allow for a Decentralized Ledger Technology (DLT) to provide supporting infrastructure.

DID is the very concept needed to not only help build a “Verified Workforce Reputation” and protect it, but can also grow to be the same profile that will one day encompass an individual's education credentials, certifications, CV, licensure, and more.

Since open access of the Hedera mainnet on September 16th, 2019, we’ve openly discussed and placed milestones on our product roadmap to open source all of Hedera’s developer tools and network services — including the Consensus Service, Cryptocurrency, Smart Contract, and File Service.
